The Davenport Community School District is seeking applications for the district Communications Specialist. Position supports the community relations and communications needs of the district, working with schools, parents, media, community and area business.
Duties include:
- Develop and implement a proactive marketing, community relations and communications strategy for the district.
- Monitor and track the perceptions of key audience groups: parents, media, community, area business, district management/staff, etc.
- Assist in data collection and analysis as it pertains to communication-related issues and “key benefits.”
- Oversee content and creation of strategic promotional materials and communication tools.
- Act as spokesperson and main contact point for media, including developing and implementing a proactive media strategy.
- Provide support in building relationships between the district and key audience groups by providing tools that increase communication and two-way feedback.
- Develop and foster strong relationships and strategic alliances with key community leaders.
- Support the district’s legislative advocacy efforts in promoting public education to elected officials and decision-makers.
- Develop tools to help support positive corporate culture at all levels of the organization.
- Support the efforts of those in the district looking to build resources/funds to help us deliver on our mission and objectives.
Qualifications include:
BA/BS in Marketing or related field; 3 years successful experience, including media relations, required. Salary range: $42,000 to $53,000.

Communications Associate

St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA, seeks a fulltime “Communications Associate” with strong experience and/or degree in communications, graphic design, and public relations or marketing.
The ideal candidate would bring an eye for graphic design, experience in the craft of writing, and aptitude for managing an extensive church website (www.stpaulqc.org). Photography skill and videography knowledge are helpful.
Personal characteristics would include strong organizational aptitude, creative design skill, interest in a church or not-for-profit environment, and the ability to work effectively within a large congregation and staff system.
Primary areas of responsibility would include:
- Design and writing for a variety of church print publications
- Website content management and image editing
- A range of technical and creative expressions for all areas of church life
The position calls for proficiency in design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign or other page layout program), and familiarity with online services such as Flickr or Picasa.
This “Communications Associate” would work in creative partnership with the Minister of Outreach/Communications Director.
